Design Documents

This page outlines the documents for the initial design phase of the simulator

Overall Simulator Concept Design

  • Overall Design Diagram
The overall design diagram and accompanying description provide an overview of the main components of the simulator, showing the relationship between functions, data and user inputs. The design is broken into five sections (sky, antennas, weight generation, beamforming and metrics/visualisation), joined by plug-and-play interfaces using data checkpoints.
  • Coordinate System
The coordinate system specification defines how source, beams and antennas are positioned. The celestial system (used for sources and beams), local horizontal system (used for the local sky) and antenna coordiate systems are considered.
  • Modes of Operation
Describes how the simulator is run by the user. Full beamforming simulation mode and diagnostic modes are explained in the context of the simulator.
  • Data Flow & Interface Specification
Describes in detail the data transfer and interfaces between each major component of the simulator.
